Gastroenterologists at Norwalk Medical Group

Our physicians focus on thorough evaluations and strive to provide the latest techniques and procedures for detection, diagnosis, and treatment of the gastro intestinal tract. The most common procedures that are performed include:

  • Upper Endoscopy – An upper endoscopy is used to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach and part of the small intestine to determine causes of numerous disorders including abdominal pain, dysphagia (swallowing difficulty), blood in stool, nausea, and vomiting.

  • Colonoscopy – A colonoscopy is a test for examining the lining of the colon to remove polyps (growth in the colon) or assess other abnormalities.

  • Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) – is a highly advanced technique that combines fluoroscopy and endoscopy to examine the bile ducts for removal of bile duct stones, or to assess for other abnormalities.

  • Video capsule endoscopy – This high tech procedure is used to examine the small intestine for bleeding sites or abnormal growths. The procedure involves a pill-sized capsule containing a camera that records images in the digestive tract.

  • Palliative stenting – This process is used for malignant intestinal or esophageal obstruction.

Our doctors of gastroenterology believe that it is important to ensure early detection, prevention and treatment of a variety of diseases some of which could be life threatening, as in the case of cancer.
