The Difference Between a Family Doctor
and an Internal Medicine Doctor

Doctors of Internal Medicine acquire many years of critical, extensive medical training to develop an extensive education of diagnosis and/or treatment of any medical condition in adults. Training of Internal Medicine doctors is so extensive, that in some cases doctors of other specialties might engage an Internist to solve a complex diagnosis. In contrast, a family doctor’s training covers all ages and therefore is not as focused and extensive as a Doctor of Internal Medicine.
